    Hello

I am new to hammock camping but we have always had a hammock or two aroudnd the house and there is usually one hanging when our boat is moored (a napping must).

I recently bought several hennessy's for my boys and I, and will do several camping trips this spring and summer.

I am going on a 2 week rafting trip down the Grand Canyon in May. Hopefully I will be able to use my hammock for some of that trip, all 14 nights off the ground would be ideal.

Has anyone made this trip whilst aloft?

Lastly, thanks for all the info in the forum.

Welcome to the forum. What a great gift for you and your boyz. Doing the grand canyon , yea. I've only seen pics. Why not check with the tour co. and make sure if you've got trees.

I've been to Phantom Ranch via the Bright Angel Trail....there are hammocking opportunities there but I'm thinking on the rafting trip it will be hit or miss depending on where the raft trip leader decides to camp...but since the raft is carrying the hammock weight def. take it, might have to be creative in where you hang-maybe combining rock and tree or rock-to-rock, so take some chocks along just in case. You could even get in good with the guides and carry a hammock stand in the bottom of a raft--you'd be the envy of all! You know the bottom of the canyon is hot--all the time. When I left the south rim is was 28F, at the Ranch it was a cool day of 99F. the hammock would be a dream in that heat.
