Gear Overload not for sale though

Well, just recently started hammock camping, I started back in May of last year, not wanting to spend major money to find if I like hammocking, i bought a cheap Bear Butt Hammock, rainfly, and tree straps. Spenind in the neighborhood of 80 bucks! Repurposed an old sleeping bag into a UQ, and a new sleeping bag as my TQ. Let me say, by the end of the second night I slept like a baby, and decided hammcoking was for me. So, here it is almost a year later, I have a Wilderness Logics Nite Owl, Wilderness Logics 40 Degree TQ, and a 40 degree UQ short. Also have a brand new Cedar Ridge Hammock 12 foot long, double layer hammock, and a Long 20 degree UQ. and let me say the camping equipment trailer is getting full, and the wife doesnt like it too good! but I am hooked on hanging! ready tog o back to the Linville Gorge this May so I can get the new stuff out and play

Yup, sounds familiar. Lucky me, I do not have a significant other to explain my growing collection. LOL

Convince your wife you are crazy and she'll be more understanding. That's what's worked for me. (Plus, it turns out she kinda likes to go too)!

Aww, that's nothin'...in another year you'll have 10X that amount of hammock stuff. It's. Going. To. Happen. You may as well embrace that which can't be avoided.

It gets no better, I've been hanging since 2012 and have more gear than I use, and I just ordered a pair of new hammocks from Papa Smurf. Even worse I probably will end up with some new quilts before long. Moral of the story? You never get through, something tempting always comes along.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Will you be premiering your new hammocks at Yates?

Ribivi, I see your location is in NC. If you start going to the group hangs and see other hanger's setups, then you will be tempted by even more gear.

It's cheaper (and safer) than a motorcycle.
There's an idea, buy a motorcycle then sell it when your better half expresses her concern for your safety / sanity. Clears the way for camping gear!

I'm dragging my wife in with me.

This is a great strategy because whenever I am looking at gear and can't decide between two things, I just get both and give one to her.

Feel free to use this method.....

    Cheers!

I have literally just been looking at the Bear Butt setup. How was it. Did the rain fly do good or did you have any leaks?

Actually the Bear Butt was a real nice first hammock, kind of short, loved the fly, no leaks at all. But having moved to an 11ft, and 12 foot hammock, would be hard to go back to, but still carry it in the jeep, just in case I get stuck at work and have to hang inside, have a perfect place for it.
