Turned splicing wire pull grip proof of concept!

Ok, so I'm waiting for glue to dry so I can continue making more of the 100 pet urns I have on the docket this week and I just HAD to play on the lathe for a few minutes and hammer out a wire puller as suggested in another thread. I think it will work great! A couple tweeks here and there probably, but this will work better than holding just the wire for sure!

Thank you! I grabbed a neat piece of figured ash which was the first thing I put my hands on.

That looks great, Curly. Love those burnish lines! How much?

I think I will tweak the design a little. Probably drill a 7mm hole and toss it on my pen mandrel so things are better centered. Drilling with that 9/64 bit was a little wonky. Then a dowel could be used to wedge the wire in place at the front end. I'll get that worked out then do a small run of them for turds and giggles.

Don't use a 7mm, remember, most pen mandrels are made to use with 7mm TUBE (OD). The actual diameter of an "A" mandrel (most common) is usually a few thou smaller than 1/4" in diameter. If you carefully drill a 1/4" hole it should be just about spot on. Lovely to see another pen turner too.

I've got a few scraps laying around that may have to turn into one of these. I'm tired of always grabbing some random hunk of whatever TIG rod I've got laying around.

    Well done.
