    Okay Campers.....

I don't know what constitutes an "official Hang" but a bunch of us from Church are planning a camping trip on the weekend of the 19th or the 26th of March.

    Here is my schedule:
    Weekends of...

March 6th -- helping out at the church with a function
March 13th - Youth Rally at Church...

    March 19th FREE
    March 26th FREE

Now... according to the moon calendar the next fool moon will be around the weekend of the 26th: See attached.... so we will have a bright night. and since the DST would have kicked in, we will have an extra hour of daylight to setup, find wood, build the fire, and get some groceries in our gullet.

So I will present this date to our group at church to get their responses and we will go from there.
I will call later today to get parking information, since the sites that I have in mind might not be able to accommodate a lot of vehicles. There is a fee for parking in the state park, but the forest is free. The problem is this...

It's all trails and woods. Not much room for parking a convoy of vehicles.

Amicalola Falls State Park is close to all those from church which is why I am planning this trip for them.

More info to follow. I am posting this to get a feel from you folks in the forum and feel out the interest in this trip.

I'll be heading out to the Coleman WMA near Amicalola Falls in late April. It's a great area.

If the dates work out and you manage to get a hang/campout organized, please post the dates and location and I'll try to at least show up on Saturday. It would be nice to meet at least one local and be able to see a hammock set up with tarp, quilts, etc. Pictures on the forum are nice, but I'm a visual type of person and like to actually see how things work.

    Thanks,

    - Mark (S-4-C)

I wouldn't suggest Woods Hole, there was a lot of bear activity around there this spring and it was reported (heard it in two different places) that someone SHOT the bear with a 22 or 25 cal in the shelter! We did a hike from Unicoi to Neels and no bears, but then again the herd was moving through and we spent the night at Low Gap with about 30 of our closest friends....

Whitley Gap Shelter? Good water, pretty quiet place, and at least 6 fewer mice than before, thanks to my buddy and his mousetraps, in his never ending war on shelter mice....

Regardless, I am up for a hang, and can bring extra hammocks for anyone to try (except my BB, which I will use). I have a HH, a Speer, and BMBH available....
