Either plan sounds good to me! I'm not as familiar with camping opportunities on the Clarion as I am on the Allegheny, so I'll defer to the wisdom of those with more experience.

I'll likely be doing a spot of fishing as well. Just picked up a telescoping rod on clearance, which will probably become a permanent fixture on my yak. The convenience is hard to beat.

If I do make it I would love to join you for some fishing CF.
    Hope to make it.
Best of luck with the procedure!

    Thanks man!
Where did you get the rod? I'm in the market for a new telescoping rod. Not real pleased with my current one. I think
I need it to be 14" to fit inside my deck bag.

i would prefer to go about a mile past Portland Mills, you get a little further away from road noise down there, but it'll depend on how long it takes to get there and weather I guess. I'm afraid of how busy the river might be, all the best spots might get taken, but there are a million places to camp and hammocks make it easier.

Kmart of all places. Think it's called 'Eagle Claw Pack-it' or some such. Extends to 66" and packs down to a hair over 13". It's a fairly low-end rod (retails for about $30, and it think I paid half of that), but it's a great one to throw in my pack and not risk shedding tears over if it gets beat up. I might cave and upgrade the reel at some point, but it's certainly functional as is.

I just called around and Lazy River said their pickup fee is $20 per boat, which is different than what the website said. At 8 boats we would be looking at $160. Country Squirrel Outfitters was only $55 for the whole group. Anyone renting a boat should call them instead of Lazy River.

They said the pickup time would be around 5pm.

I just made the reservation and gave a deposit for one vehicle/trailer, which can transport 6 canoes or 12 kayaks (6 spaces on trailer - each can hold 1 canoe or 2 kayaks).

I think we will all fit on one transport but if not we can just run back down to Hallton in one of our vehicles, which is a short trip by car. I'd prefer doing that than another $55 and wouldn't mind being the one who stayed behind (as long as you don't forget me )

Just signed up, I talked my youngest into trying it.

No kayaks so we will have to figure out the rentals and anything else we need. I have not been been in a canoe in a lot of years.

Great! Call country squirrel outfitters for a kayak or canoe rental 814-776-6285 tell them you are with the Sunday 5/27 5pm Hallton pickup group under Brad.

Maybe we should add a second transport?
