Easiest way to see a continuous loop is to watch YouTube videos of continuous loops being made and used. A continuous loop for hammocks is usually made by splicing amsteel or it can be made with a knot instead. A common size is an eight inch continuous loop——if elongated it will measure about eight inches.
Continuous loop can go through end channel and back through itself to form a larks head. This small loop can be used to attach whoopie slings by larks head or carabiner or climbers ring or buckle to tree straps.
My current rig does not have any continuous loops—-they are not required——can be very useful.
Search continuous loops on Hammock Forums and or web browser for pictures and important details for making your own or you can buy them from Dutch or most cottage vendors

I made a hemmed triple stitched end 12 footer double layer and threaded the looped end of the whoopie and made a larks head running the long end through the fixed loop. It's the same way I have done all of my hammocks, even retrofitting commercial hammocks.
