    Hi from Colorado!

    Hello everyone,

I am so excited to be part of this group. My husband and I moved to Colorado last January and since have hiked only a few trails and done one 14ner. But we are so use to the Smokey Mountains as we came from Tennessee, that we are not prepared for the cold temperatures and new gear list. We are also semi new to the hammock world, my husband has more over night experience than I but neither know anything about hammocks in the Rockies, hint the reason I am on here. So if anyone is from Colorado or a snow state and can give us advice that would be great!

    Talk to ya'll later,

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda and husband, welcome.
Colorado is a great state to hammock camp. The Colorado Trail is an excellent place to get your altitude legs and hone your hammock camping skills.
Feel free to post any questions you two have on hammock gear or places to hike and hang. if you need something specific PM me I will be gald to help if I can.

Thank you so much! I do have a question. We are looking for a few trails that we can do a single overnight hang at, any suggestions?

Yes even more so. I am old (64) with a bad back. This pack allows me to walk upright with no backpack bendover balancing act.
The straps and belts feels more like a climbing harness and you have excellent movement and mobility.

There are two down sides. These don't work on fat people you really need hips and you can't rest your shoulder and waist like old style packs.
Basicly all the weight is on your hips and your shoulders are just used for stabilization not load bearing.

Lost Creek Wilderness has quite a few access points, section 4 of Colorado Trail runs through there. Goose Creek Trailhead is also a nice way to enter the Lost Creek Wilderness. Elevations on trail around 8 or 9 thousand feet aren’t that bad for newcomers either.
