A video overview of my ‘17 thru

    https://youtu.be/Yj2bLKs1vtk

It’s not the shortest video ever, and needs work, but I just had to finish the darn thing.

I’m thinking about doing a hammock specific video down the road, if there’s any call for it.

What do you guys and gals think?

    Thoughts, questions, comments?

Great video, thanks for posting! Audio is pretty low volume, at least on my iPad it was tough hear, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Dog looks like he was having fun too!
    Congrats on your thru hike!!!

Definitely interested...needs more volume ...my laptop is turned all the way up and I cant hear it very well.

Don't be afraid to jack it up...we can always turn the volume down.

Also I cant hear it over my chewing.

I want to know your routine for picking a spot for your Hammock as it relates to the shelters.
i.e. How to avoid them all.

I enjoyed this video, Some good info in there and I really like to see what others are doing that I might not have thought of.

I'm not a thru hiker ....Yet... So I liked the little tidbits like "9pm is the hikers Midnight" Really gives some perspective on what can be expected when I make my first real attempt.

Thanks for taking the time to share with us.

    Thanks for the constructive viewpoint.

Do you have any other questions about thru hiking?

I would like to know the answer to this one from Vanhalo:

So I actually didn’t avoid shelters.

The general answer to this question isn’t hammock specific; walk a ways beyond the shelter and stealth camp or just plan your mileage around them.

That said, I was a fan of staying near shelters for the social aspect. And privvies.

Most shelters had areas nearby for tents and that means even more options for hammockers, I’d just find a spot 20 to 50 yards away so I had my own comfy space, but could also walk up to the shelter to sit on the benches or whatnot and eat dinner with friends
