Continuous ridgeline for tarp - what cordage do you use?

The weekend before last I had my first hang. I learned a lot, and one of those things was I'm going to prefer having a continuous ridge line for my tarp with prusik knots for adjusting placement. It just seems easier to me to use a long length of cordage to span, wrap, and tie.

On my first hang, all I brought with me that I could do this with was some yellow tarp guyline I got from Warbonnet. The line did the job fine, but the adjustability of the prusik knots wasn't there. The line squeezed together so much I couldn't slide the knots around.

So, what do you guys that like a continuous ridge line like to use? Amsteel (which I've discovered I can get custom lengths of pretty cheaply) for the ridge line and #36 bank line for the prusiks is where I'm leaning at the moment, or maybe just keep using the dyneema guyline I have for the line and something else for the prusik knots? I know the tarp doesn't care, but I also know I don't know much, and am leaning on the experience of you guys for advice.

I use the Dutchware ridgeline which is made of zing-it, and I think the prussic soft shackles are made of lash-it.

It works well, except the zing-it really gets jammed hard into the Wasp. My buddy with a lash-it ridgeline doesn't have this problem. So maybe I'd go with lash-it if you're planning on using a Wasp at some point.

Edit: I have been informed that zingit/lashit are the same thing. So ignore the bit about lash-it being better.

I use Zing-It 1.75 mm - but Lash-It is the same thing, just the colors are different (Zing-It is yellow or red; Lash-It is grey):

I'm pretty sure zing-it and lash-it differ in more than just color; I think zing-it is coated which makes it slide over trees but harder to tie.

That's why I provided those links so you could see there is no difference other than color. The manufacturer, Samson, notes no difference other than color. Dutch's website says the same thing: "We now have red and yellow Zing it along with grey Lash it. The only difference is the color."

Here's another link from Arrowhead saying the same thing:

    https://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/...e-dope-on-rope

"Moving down from there the next step would be to Lash It and Zing It. These two products though they bear different names are at their core the same beat. Lash It comes in grey color while Zing It is available in Yellow or Red. Beyond that they are identical in construction and use."

Maybe you're thinking of Fling-It? Different company, slightly different coating.

Wessspur has blue Zing-It! They are temporarily out of 1.75 mm.

    Similar thread.

I just use $1.40 white nylon cord from Walmart and it works fine. I'm very unsophisticated.

Zing-it is the popular choice . Prusiks will be hard to move after being heavily loaded. Usually I loosen the Prusik a little to slide it. It tightens back up when loaded.

I switch to 1.75 lash-it with the new cord-claws and absolutely love this setup. The cord-claws easy allow adjustments to the tarp on CRL.
