Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I got the bug to get out and camp (been wanting to for a long time but never did) and decided a hammock sounded like the way to go.
Right no I'm working on putting together some gear so my daughter and I can get out to some of the state parks in the area.
Welcome from just up the road in Ashland. We have a hang May 4-6 at Twin Lakes SP (about 40 minutes outside RVA) Check it out and come on out! Plenty of gear to see/borrow if you needed something.

Nice, I'll check my schedule for the Old Dominion Hang. Hopefully I can find a spot to hang and test our gear before I venture out for the first time. Unfortunately the trees in my yard leave much to be desired until I can get someone over to take care of the MANY dead branches caught in them.

Welcome. If you are working on putting together gear for you and your daughter, then it would be well worth joining the Fat Butt hang this weekend even if you only make a Friday or Saturday day trip out of it. Only 1 hr 42 min from Richmond to Medoc Mountain in NC. That way you can try out and see lots of different setups before making final decisions on gear. Lots of us have gear to loan if needed, just let us know.
