I'm glad you found the time to head out for an overnighter and am particularly glad you brought us along. Winter hammocking is sublime.

Enjoyed you sharing your winter outing with us, and if I were looking for an “expert” opinion on winter outings I can’t think of a better one than yours
I can't believe you have people telling you that you're not winter camping the right way. What do they think you're doing wrong? You seem to have survived moderate discomfort and starvation in flying colors and even enjoyed yourself!

Yet another great video Shug. The haters are gonna hate but keep on doing what you do and many thanks for taking the time to do the video of your trips. I tried it, and talk about lazy, this is a ton of work and we appreciate what you do and how you do it.
Inspiring video. Everything looks right to me...
Always love your videos, Shug!!! Thanks for yet again showing winter camping at its finest.
I did unwind and the BBQ made me feel a bit NC-ish!
It is VERY comfortable. No calf ridge and great support yet supple.
I do like it that way. Hey...we go to into the cold to feel it and see what if.
The Coffee Crisp cocoa is sublime on sublime!
Never an expert but always an enthusiast.
They don't understand the hammock thing in the snow I think. Maybe jealous!
At least with the camera I have someone to talk too...it does make me feel connected somehow out there.
It went well. The BBQ made the trip!
Wish I had another day but alas...not to be this time.

Thanks Shug for bringing us with you and letting us feel those crisp sensations. May we always be able to enjoy the ever changing nature !
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you. Everybody has his camping routine. I like to make a fire, even when the snow is that deep, - and cook something (like some lentils and an oignon and carrot, with a laurel leaf and thyme and one clove, and a sausage). It keeps much company in the evenings, and it is good to eat healthy food with some bread. Then I would warm up the leftovers the next day with the alcohol stove if I cannot be bothered making a fire again...
(Of course, I understand you do not want to rely on a fire when you are out only for one night. It is easier to do this when leaving for several days, when you have various cooking options with you.)
I think I will acquire your thermometer, thanks for showing it !

Great video as usual Shug, but I was hoping you would have Packit Gourmet State Fair Chili with Texas Pete Hot Sauce for dinner!
No kidding! I was going to browse the comments to see what people were saying, but I didn't have time. There's really no right and wrong...some people would take a case of beer, fireworks and guns. Others a chainsaw, axes and other gear to rival a commercial logging operation. Then some may even go with half this pack weight and basically "survive".
I like your approach here Shug...a true winter backpacking trip with good lightweight gear to match the conditions. I've been doing more pulking lately, but it's nice to get back to basics. Hauling 20lb of wool, stoves, hottents, cast iron, etc is fun, but it's just more stuff to pack, haul, unpack, clean. I'm looking forward to some lighter, faster trips soon now that winter is winding down.
