NY (Western) > Rock City & McCarty Hill State Forest Loop, Apr 13-15

I've only known of this place from mountain biking, never been though and just found out it offers decent hiking as well. I am heading down in a little under two weeks, basically following this 24.8 mile loop I found on AllTrails: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/tr...rthy-hill-loop

Link to DEC page is here, designated primitive Camping spots can be seen on this map, however at-large camping is permitted in the forest following NY DEC regs (150ft away from road/trail/water).

My basic plan is to leave the Little Rock City parking lot at around noon on Friday, put in the majority of the miles (15-16) on Sat, and be within 3-4 miles of parking lot Sat night for early departure on Sunday am. Seems that going in either direction from Little Rock City there are camping spots 7-8 miles from the start (for Fri night) that are also near parking on Mutton Hollow Road, so if someone wants to join late Fri or for just Sat that would work too, driving back to your vehicle from Little Rock on Sun is no prob.

There is some other info and nice pics here: http://andyarthur.org/explore/new-yo...l-state-forest

It is a very alert, active sheep, with a stylish, lively carriage.

I love that area. Hiked there a couple years ago, lots of hills. Started a little farther north by Ellicottville and hiked south. We started at Access #8 on Poverty Hill parking and hiked to the CCC campsite on day one, then continued on the next day and hiked past the golf course, but I don't remember where we stopped. It was on map MO2, but I can't find my copy of it on my computer.
Attached is the map of the area, although you may want to double check it. I think they re-routed it by the golf course just east of Little Rock City.

    Yes, I am.

Weather forecast keeps getting warmer - 72 on Friday now, which is mind boggling considering the driving snow we had this morning. Haven't gotten any further with planning particulars.

It's looking more likely that I'll have the weekend off.

If you can park nearby early on Sat and want to join up that would probably work too, still haven't sat down and figured out route specifics but at a glance it should be workable.
