Without diy tinkering some of the light weight cot options might not be as sturdy as you would like in a portaledge configuration. They are also a pain to assemble. You are definitely headed down the right path though. http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-fo...Runout-Customs

Thank you for your help in searching. I agree, I'm on the right track. I only want to hang 15-17 inches off the ground. This photo is from your link:

I would consider using a bunch of Loop Aliens (maybe knock offs) and some amsteel. It would be easy to adjust and it would not block the view as much as straps. I just started using loop aliens about a week ago, but after a few tests it is now my favorite hanging method for ultralight and I switched 2 hammocks over.

Great idea, I like the looks of those. Will they work with 3/8 polyester webbing?

I think they will hold with the webbing and no matter what I use I would wrap it around the loop alien to lock it. I do not think it would adjust as easy as amsteel, though I have not tried 3/8" webbing. Maybe it would work. I have some ultralight 2g per foot black straps from RSBTR and they held fine in the loop aliens, but it did not slide and adjust easily, so I am using huggers and amsteel which makes it really easy to adjust and light as well.

    Thanks for the information Fishbite.

I have an aging prostate that insists I do 2-3 pee excursions during the night. The hand grip shown in TreeFool's video looks like a dooable accessory for me. Getting up out of a bridge has been a challenge :-(
