VIDEO: North Country Trail with Midwest Backpackers Group

I had a fun weekend backpacking trip with 6 guys (Bic, Hillbilly Deluxe, Toots, Boobs, Jebb, Wesley) from the Midwest Backpacking Group on the North Country Trail in northern Minnesota. We all hung in some beautiful weather and the trail was in good condition. Here is a video from the trip.

Really nice to see a video from my neck of the woods.
I like the Horseshoe Lake campsite because there aren't any major roads nearby. Some good piney woods a little north of there. I have never camped at Headquarters campsite, because I have always assumed that it would be within earshot of the paved county road (37? 39?). Traffic noise is a pet peeve of mine. Did you guys find that to be an annoyance ?

If you had kept hiking east of Headquarters campsite, the next camp is at Gardner Lake. Really pretty lake, but the site isn't very good for multiple hammocks. Farther east, is a really nice and hammockable site in the SW corner of Itasca State park, that isn't part of the state park campsite system, and is therefore free.

In general, I find this area a mix of nice, mature forest, and new-growth, scrubby forest. If you pass through a really nice area, enjoy it, because if you come back a year later, the same spot may be a clear-cut.
