"...the height of hammock snobbery!"

Kitsapcowboy,
I like your design. Lots. Have some heavier pack weight cuben fiber and have been trying to decide on the best design for 2 or 3 seasons.
Also plan to make a wide bridge for side lay with no knee pressure. Will use trecking poles with the tips covered. Questions:
Do you have a measurement on Max width of practical coverage?
I was wondering your opinion on whether you think it would be a good combination? If it were cheap SIL, I'd just experiment. Like they say with quality, buy once cry once.
With good cuben it's "cut once cry once ".
Thanks,
Equalizer
Had to reread.
"It has an effective (hex-equivalent) width over the head and feet of about 88"
Sounds like plenty for width and certainly length.
I can only guess that I'd have to try to find out how low your tarp design could be pitched with the bridge banging upon entry and exit. I might have to really pad the tip covers with foam.
Width will possibly be 30" with spreader bars around 5'10".
Any suggestions?
(parallelogram asym tarp) + (bridge hammock) = BAD
(No diagonal)
The solution for a minimalist tarp in fair-ish weather (just in case): -- a 6'x9' rectangle like my DIY K.I.S.S. tarp pitched A-frame style over your bridge hammock instead of on the ground!
Pitched with care, it will keep the sprinkles and drips off of you as long as the rain is falling straight down, good fair-weather insurance. You will need drip lines on the dog bones.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I am disappointed, but by far less than if I went ahead and did your design with dyneema cuben
to find out it didn't work.
I have a marpat tarp with similar dimensions to your rectangular kiss, but with mild cat cut.
Forgot the width, but a little wider and tested good.
I'll likely use your suggestion of the kiss rectangle with some cheaper fabric after I build the wider bridge.....
Test it, then use the Cuben when I find the desired width.
Thanks again! 👍
