Biolight SunLight (www.bioliteenergy.com/SunLight) works well and is dimmable.

I leave my headlamp on my head. That way it's always pointed exactly where I need it...

That's what I do, but I only leave it on my head when I'm around camp doing stuff. Once in my hammock I'm pretty much ready for sleep. I bring my Luci light often, but I'm starting to wonder why. It's not as useful as my headlamp; more for the novelty of having a little light marking my home for the night.

My favorite is the evrgrn Lowboy Lantern which aparently has been discontinued (https://www.rei.com/product/884059/e...lowboy-lantern). It dials from almost nothing to very bright. Extremely easy to use.

I also have the Snow Peak Mini Hozuki Lantern (https://www.rei.com/product/847049/s...hozuki-lantern) which aparently has also been discontinued. It's more annoying to adjust and change batteries but is half the weight which is nice.

I could just hang my headlamp but I don't always have a ridgeline and I like that the other lanterns throw light over the entire site and not just in a narrow beam.

Check out some floodier headlamps. Game changer, and so much more pleasant if you do any night hiking.

I never had much luck using my head lamp, it was always facing perpendicular to where I wanted it. Just bought that Nite Ize light, it's going to live permanently in the hammock. I think it will be perfect.

I have a USB battery pack that hangs from my ridgeline. One side has a solar panel, the other side are LED lights. I use the light in my hammock, and it hangs next to my organizer and charges my phone while I'm sleeping. Then I leave it out in the sun to charge next day.

This is a little heavy for backpacking, but the Black Diamond Storm headlamp allows white, green, or red light colors. I've enjoyed using the different colors as the night progresses. A carabiner is currently used, but a soft-shackle would be nice when I learn to make it.

    Hanging Light From Ridgeline

Lather the bottom of your tarp with high quality glow paint and leave the flashlight at home.

    Hey, it MIGHT work. ?

You know its just a matter of time before Dutch or RSBTR offers glow in the dark options to all of their fabrics. I'm calling it now.
