Loving my new quilts wondering about my old

Just got new quilts from the Jacks, and I am loving them. I thought I was getting the same quilt set I had before and maybe I do. That said, my old quilts look pretty darn pathetic next to me new ones. When I am not hiking, I store the quilts loosely in Rubbermaid containers. Can the quilts lose loft over time? Is there a way to "restore the loft and luster" of an older quilt?

i am wondering the same thing. i have a down bag, TQ, UQ and i want to keep them nice. i use the storage sacks loosely but am wondering if they would be better to be hung or laying flat under a bed.

what do the rest of you do?

Have you tried laundering the quilts? With mine, they poof up and seem brand new after laundering.

Yep, I bet Perkolady is right. At the very least, I run my quilts through the dryer with some tennis balls a couple of times a year. Keeps them nice and fluffy.
I hang all my quilts inside hanging wardrobes like the one below. Works like a charm and my quilts are never compressed while in storage.

    Trust nobody!

I've always stored my down bags and now quilts flat in over sized breathable bags. The bags are usually as wide, ~3/4 the length and thicker than the bags/quilts. A now ancient Marmot down bag (made in Durango, CO) still has decent loft.
For storage space I screwed some webbing from the basement rafters and ran doweling between them. 90* to the doweling is an assortment of material forming the shelves for the quilts/bag.

I have a spare bed room with an xtra bed in it. I lay my UQ and TQ flat on the bed.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I have a few dogs who would luxuriate in that arrangement and a cat who can't resist clawing ripstop.
