Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I hang all my quilts inside hanging wardrobes like the one below. Works like a charm and my quilts are never compressed while in storage.
If you pop them in the dryer you have to use the no heat setting right? Can you get a quilt in a standard home size dryer, my first thought is the wuilt would be too big.

    Ashman, et al,

I regularly wash and dry JRB quilts in a Maytag front loader and a regular Maytag dryer...

Personally, I use the gentle cycle wash, with presoak and with extra spin dry... Hand wash is an alternative method... NEVER USE A TOP LOADER WITH CENTRAL AGGITATOR...

When transfering to the dryer, place your hands under the wet quilt and lift to carry it to the dryer... My Dryer model has 5 heat settings and I use the second lowest ( whichever you use check it after 10 minutes or so to make sure it is not too hot, until you are confident of your dryer settings...(THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT WHEN USING COMMERCIAL DRYERS) ... I use a couple of of tennis balls...I use 30-40 minute timed cycles and it routinely takes 2-3 cycles for a summer quilt, 3-4 cycles for a three season quilt, and 5 cycles for a winter quilt.
