    Ridgeline failure

I went out yesterday for a typical Sunday afternoon hammock hanging on the lake. I set up in a spot that I never set up in. The trees were almost too far apart.

Anyway I hung the hammock, sat in, and just as I fully committed the ridgelin broke. The line broke right at the Anchor's Hitch on the little eyebolt. I've been using Speer's spectra guyline stuff. I think I'll be switching to 2.8mm Spyderline. Do you think that's over kill?

Overkill? Yes. Is overkill okay? Yes, certainly.

There's no reason that your ridgeline can't be made of VERY strong line as long as you are willing to carry the weight around.

Wow the second time reading about this in the last few days. Someone else had that on his hh. I use 7/64" armsteel spectra. The same I use for my supports. I mainly use this to keep everything the same to look better, plus I had extra laying around.

As long as there is not a huge weight penilty, there is no such thing as overkill.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
