Love that the HF community is willing to share ideas and provide inspiration. Keep it up.

Many thanks. I appreciate all the encouragement.

It will probably get some serious side-by-side use this summer, and I'll add photos to this discussion thread.

All of the ground-edge tie-outs have 1/2" Beastee Dee rings for internal pole compatibility; I'll have to build some custom 0.344" poles for the Trail Boss, but I think you're right. I also think a "floating porch mode" on this tarp using the same poles will be pretty sweet.

I'm excited about that too. You are most welcome, and thank you for your kind comments and for reading this report.

Great tarp. Excellent tutorial ! I have one simple question that isn't major. On the ridge line tabs, there is a small tail over hanging the ridge and it doesn't look like there is any stitching below the horizontal ridge line row. Are these tails left loose? silicone glued down?

Thanks. Correct. There are tabs have length equal to the width of the ribbon and are cut and heat-sealed roughly flush with the bottom edge of the folded grosgrain over the ridge line. They are left loose with no concerns so far, but you're welcome to finish yours any way you like.

Thank you; this tarp makes a really nice shelter, in the trees or on the ground.

What is the story on the stacking of the line lock and the D ring ? When do you use which ?

Provides maximum versatility for built-in hardware-based adjustment, direct staking to the ground, use with larger-diameter cord, double internal .344" pole compatibility (with Dyneema cord tethers), etc. Two-way tie-outs do it all for the literal cost of 4 grams and less than a dollar.

    * Use the LineLoc for convenient adjustment of compatible cord
    * Use the Beastee Dee ring for larger-diameter cord, larkshead shock cord loops, or stakes
    * Use the LineLoc for cordage in conjunction with the Beastee Dee for .344" poles
