If the images are linked from your HF gallery, they won't appear unless the person has an account at HF and is logged in. Photos hosted on 3rd party sites, like flickr or photobucket are viewable to anyone on the forum. That's how I always do my trip reports, since I share them with others non-HF members.
Most of the images throughout the thread, posted by several, are not displaying where they did before, regardless of my login status.
edit: seemed to be an outage of Tapatalk's image hosting service.
