I have been trying to be a hammock camper since I was a boy without success. It was nice to hang out in but not to overnight. Then 5-6 years ago I invested in the Hennessey Hammock and have been learning how to adjust it to my personal needs ever since. In 08 I took a BWCA Solo canoe trip for 14 days. It was a good adventure and I learned a lot about my hammock. http://canoedad.shutterfly.com/
I have added a line leveler and an under quilt for the bugs and cold. Following Shug, a fellow Minnesotan, on his adventures on the internet has been fun. So I decided to join in with the other folks that hang in the trees like sausages in the wind. I hope to learn a few things and have some fun.

Welcome, I am envious of a 14 day solo paddle. I have done 5 days, never that many. One learns a great deal about one's self when paddling solo. I found it very rewarding.

You will love hanging with paddling. The two really work well together. The real fun is that you don't have to rely on level ground and you get to sleep on waterfront property. Enjoy this group, it is a wealth of knowledge.

Welcome Canoedad! Envious of your longish BWCA trip. The most we can ever seem to swing is 7. Some day I will make a solo...

From your solo trip photos, especially like #30 (047.jpg) with the mist over the lake and #54 (082.jpg) --not many sandy beaches up in the BWCA (Frost Lake comes to mind as the only other I've seen). Which lake was that?

A link to ours if interested: BWCA 2009

Clicking on the "Staci" link at the album title will bring you back to our other trips, but 2009 was the first trip hanging.

    Sigh....have to wait for September....
