Good fire roads for car camping in gwjnf

So I'm taking my gf for her first hang so I want to car camp. Wondering if anyone knows of some good fire roads around Charlottesville or Lynchburg. They'd have to be in relatively good shape. No 4x4

Zepp, Va had a good access road with camp spots. Let me know if that is an area you are interested in and I'll try to dig up some directions.

Here is a link to roads within the forest. The Zepp is the Northern area of map 4.

You might be better off calling a ranger office in the area you want and use the maps to narrow it down.

    A couple other ideas:
Not fire road but nice inexpensive campgrounds: https://www.forestcamping.com/dow/southern/gw.htm

And the 'Little Fort Campground' has a nice trail (Massanutten Mountain Trail) along with the Woodstock fire tower. There is an ATV trail close by, but I never saw it in use. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/gwj/...a/?recid=73807

All these areas are tic infested - permethrin treated clothing is a must.

I'd be interested in that information. I usually end up down the BRP. The Jeep trails (aka fire or forest roads) are definitely 4x4 but there are some I can drive a regular car on for a short distance.
