    Hammock Stand: Checking before buying

    Any concerns or issues with this stand? I can get one for cheap, so just making sure I'm not missing anything I should be looking out for. I'll be using a tunnel-end travel type hammock in it for yard use.

    Thanks for any advice, opinions, experiences!

    I have that exact stand from BB&B. Have had no issues with it. Works as advertised.

    You can save yourself a few bucks and order this one from Agri Supply for $54. The shipping is another $12.50, if I remember right. Works fine.

    Trust nobody!

    Had one myself for the past 3 years. Use it to snooze in on summer afternoons and occasional evenings.

    Thanks for the quick feedback! My main concerns are strength and sag. It's rated to 450 so I'm not too worried about that, but I don't want to have to string the hammock super tight to keep from sagging to the ground. My guess is that those end bars are going to pull together quite a bit when loaded.

    Getting it for $50 brand new and local pickup, so it's a pretty decent deal and no tax or shipping.

    Thanks again!

    I have to pre-adjust the sloppiness of the poles before getting in to keep from sagging and hitting the bottom pole across the ground.

    I wouldn't worry too much about strength, gotta figure they build a safety factor in to it.

    Sag is a problem I have with mine. I do have to string it tight enough to remove the "slop" in the joints. Makes it tough to evaluate how a new hammock looks indoors or even put a pad in one. I have thought about stringing a spectra ridgeline on the stand tight enough so that when I get in the hammock, it doesn't sag much more. Just haven't done it yet.

    Alan, How do you adjust the "sloppiness" of the poles? I got one of these a while back and have played a bit, seemed to work just right with a Grand Trunk Single but the BB is so much longer that I have to crank it pretty tight to not end up with a steel bar in the butt. If there is a way to tweak the wobble out I would love it.

    I initially hang the hammock fairly tight. Once that's done, I go to one end and while standing between the pole and hammock...with one hand pull the pole towards me while pulling my suspension tight. I do the same at the other end.

    pole ---> <--- suspension (hammock) suspension ---> <--- pole

    The whole setup tends to flex a bit and be a bit sloppy at the joints where the pipes fit together, but it's fairly easy to adjust most of the slop out before getting into the hammock.
