How about this as an adjustment.... Make a 5oz+ climashield XP UQ/TQ for winter, but then also use a summer down quilt for your TQ.

I recommend the 3oz climashield. It's the best price due to it's width (102") and it works well to use two layers instead of one layer of 6oz due to the variations in thickness with climashield. The two layers can give you a better average thickness.
Thru-Hiker has some great materials, but they're awfully expensive.

I've been thinking about get climashield from OWF Inc. Do you know what the clo rate is on the 102" stuff?
I'm working up an order for other items at, OWF, so getting it for wholesale price makes it more appealing than getting it at Thru-hiker. However, if the clo is lower than the Climashield XP. The price difference is negated since you need to use more of the OWF 3oz to get the same end result
The only way to find out is to make and test them out.
confussed??? This just dawned on me..... Are you making 3 sets or putting 2 together and then calling it a 3rd quilt??
I just finished an insultex peapod with a similar arrangement. The outter peapod shell which encloses the hammock has 1.1 ripstop outter and inner liner w/ two layers of insultex in between. Inside the peaod there are (6) adjustable streach type suspension straps which can hold an inner layer assembly; the winter assembly has a bottom 1.1 ripstop, top fleece, inside (1) insultex layer. Assembly has one end left open (held closed by velcro) can insert additional layers if needed. Have another assembly with outter ripstop, inner 3/8" polyester fiber. Can add or subtract layers depending on weather conditions. Peapod shell can be raised or lowered from inside the hammock and inner layers can also be raised or lowered or shifted front to back from inside. Yes the weight can add up depending on which season you are in.
Thanks for the link to owf. I'll have to do some checking on the clo values.
I'm so out of shape ......I passed gas yesterday and pulled a muscle!
I talked with the owner at thruhiiker.com He was saying the 2.5/3oz climashield is more irregular in thickness (the 5oz. thickness was more consistent).
