    I use 6 footers and I'm an end thru loop guy too. I also tie a marlin spike hitch to secure the hammock suspension to and that sucks up about 1 foot or more. I often have a another foot or more that is unused but it gives me a sense of security in case I hang where there are larger trees.

    One 4 ft. long with sewn loops on both ends (used with Dutch Clip), one 6 ft. long with sewn loop on one end (used with DC and MSH with toggle).
    Reasoning: 1.) trees are not all the same size, 2.) MSH uses more webbing than sewn loop, 3) one toggle allows disconnect under tension
