    I’ll address the ‘ps’.
The only communal meals are Saturday breakfast and dinner. You can see the meals page on the signup.

My son is also 16 and has been hanging with me for 7 years.

    Can’t wait to meet y’all.

Well, the first raffle items are in and ‘woo buddy’ are they nice.

Now I know why organizing a raffle is hard. I want to keep everything.

This is one of my favorite group hangs. We are family-friendly and a 16-yo will fit in very nicely. We usually have some teens/young adults who will welcome your son.

We don’t get too crazy and still manage to have a good time, so I doubt you need to warn him about anything other than watching out for that Yojimbo character...

For added enjoyment, make sure he has plenty of warm clothing. Being November, this hang can sometimes be classified as a “chilly butt hang”. If I remember correctly, last year temps got down to 24°.

Shari will have her Ridge Runner with sock and 0 degree UQ, so they'll be at least one for you to look at.

Let me give you a little info. My son got hooked on hammocking from a friend of ours and wants to get me into it as well. He only has a cheap hammock right now but wants to upgrade as he is able. He's kinda into the make it yourself thing (he just bought a Costco down throw), but is also eyeballing the dutch chameleon which was highly recommended by our friend. I do not own a hammock, though I intend to buy one, however I'm totally bewildered by the options available. I don't know if I sleep right or hang left or prefer a bridge, who knows. I looked closely at the Blackbird XLC online but I'm not married to it. Neither of us are very tall, though he is still growing! I have a tent, but that wouldn't be to classy to show up to a hang and sleep on the ground right....

We were hoping to check out everbody elses gear and see if we could get some idea of what we would like. If you guys or anybody else is kind enough to let us check out your setups or even to let us try some different options, we would be really into it. I'm hoping to arrive a little early for the hang, and get a chance to meet some of you folks.

    Thanks everyone for your hospitality!
Most folks are perfectly fine with you checking out their stuff..so long as they aren't in it at the time. That's how you make awkward friends really quick. I'll have a couple different setups with me, including the Chameleon I never touch (Great hammock...just not my thing). As far as loaner gear, the biggest determining factor is going to be the temp. It's Northern Virginia in November. In the past, it's been anywhere from 80s down to the mid 20s. You just never know. I usually clear the Gear Room shelves for hangs and have plenty of extra stuff.

Plus, bring cash. There's going to be a raffle with some really sweet gear from what a little birdie told me.

Also, I added a quick list of some example of non-food items that are needed for the hang if someone is more inclined to bring something like that as opposed to food.

Oh dang. Just fixed the math on the spreadsheet and realized we are already up to a possible 40 attendees. We are still two months out and are at last years attendance numbers. Woohoo! Let’s continue to spread the word and really share that Virginia is for Lovers spirit. (I’m not sure what that means)

    Hey,

Just a note to anyone that I said I would try to bring gear for...my clan has decided they're coming as well, so I may not have the quilts to lend out that I said I would. Of course..if it's really cold like I hope it will be, half of them will bail out anyway.
