    Hi from Scotland!

    Hi folks,

Just thought I'd better introduce myself before I plough in with all my questions!

I'm Blutack, from Bonnie Scotland, and I've been hammocking for a couple of years now - first in a standard hammock, then a hennessy, and now in a homemade hennessy clone.

As usual, I've got plenty of projects on the go (down on order for a quilt I'm halfway through marking out), so I'm sure I'll be glad of the advice from everybody here.

    Cheers!!

    Blutack.

Aye, but whoot part ah schootland r ye from. It makes a difference. Just kidden aye, welcome to the forum. My ancestors are from Renfrew and Oban. Last week some folks in the valley where i live had a slide show of their new passion which is hiking and looking around the west coast of scotland, Maul, Skye and other inlets and islands around there. The first thing i noticed was there were very few trees but then there would be this small group of good sized trees by a stream and some meadow and flowers and it was beautiful in fact some areas were extremely beautiful. Hope to see some pics of your camping trips in the future but for now, welcome.

Aye, on quite a bit of the West Coast and the Western Isles, you'd be hard pushed to find two trees to string together . However, most of the places I go there are ten good hammock pitches for every tent spot. Also, hammocking lets you camp where others can't, and hence you get all the unspoilt spots (too often tent pitches are covered in litter, fire scars etc unfortunately).

'Tis a beautiful country though, and despite only being wee, there are plenty of fantastic places to explore and hang out .

Well as the old saying goes "big things come in small packages". Glad to hear there are plenty of trees where you go.

Ah Scotland lovely place got some relatives up there. At least with Scotland you are legally allowed to camp wild in England when I lived there it was illegal to camp wild unless you had the owners permission even if the owner was the UK government. All land is owned by somebody somewhere.
