Funny to see this post ... I just got done repairing one of my tie out lines that my Daschund/Lab mix chewed thru on our last outing. PJ can get her lead tangled up around stuff as fast as any other dog, but she’ll just sit down and pout rather than ripping the camp to shreds.
On our last trip, she wrapped around a root or something, not my tie out, but found herself stuck close enough to my tarp that her little doggie brain told her that my mason line tie out was to blame. Didn’t take her 5 seconds of agitated chewing to break my line.
Kinda like takin kids along— sure is extra work, but wouldn’t change it for the world.

"But hey, 2 trees anywhere is a bedroom waiting to happen, right?"
Too true! I have a 7 month old and we're family camping now, but wholly molly is it extra work. I'm sure the developmental advantage from spending time in nature, even at this age, is worth it but I'm looking forward to when he's older and can enjoy the outdoors in more the same way that I do. By then though, he'll probably being tripping over my guy lines too! ;-P

Better to have the stakes pull than rip a tarp. My dogs just chew the lines in two, but only if the lines are in the exact spot that they have chosen for a nap.
I know this is off topic - so sorry - but hammock baby is spectacular!
Delightful baby-in-hammock photos- wish I'd been a hammocker when our boys were babies.
