I don't expect to make this with a kid and the Halloween stuff going on, at least for the next several years. I'll likely head down the following weekend though (Nov 2).

So, I got there yesterday afternoon and set up camp, took a nap, and built a fire. Lovely day. Climbed in my hammock to go to sleep a little after 10 p.m. and had horrible back pain that reminded me a lot of when I had kidney stones 15 years ago. A long agonizing decision later, I was packing up and walking out and driving home with horrible pain the whole time. Got home after 2:30 a.m. Rough night but okay right now, with a call out to my doctor to figure out what's next. I guess it was a good, though tough, lesson on self-reliance.

Obviously, I'm going to miss the rest of the hang, but I wanted to warn everybody that there is very little water down there. I saw about 6 to 10 very small puddles at most a couple of inches deep. Depending on how many are there, there may not be enough. So, if you're planning on getting there Saturday, you might want to bring some down with you. I did see a larger puddle on the trail to Sycamore branch campsite number 2 where that trail crosses the creek just before the campsite.

One last thing, I noticed that the trail sign 4 campsite number 2 had been pulled out and was laying on the ground. I picked it up and leaned it against a tree, but it might have fallen down again when people are hiking in. Also, most of my reflective Trail markers that I've put in over the years are gone, and the Bush- whack trail is far less distinct than in the past, so night time navigation will be more difficult. If you've never been to CV2 it might be a good idea to walk in with someone who knows where it is.

Surprised to hear about the water. Even when it's dry the stream by #2 has been pretty reliable. I'm heading down next week so maybe the rain will pump it up a bit.

How are the fall colors? Anything yet? Pretty weak up here in Ft Wayne and it's almost November!

Colors are just starting to get going. I would guess peak color by next weekend?

Thanks, Randy. Not well- wishers, but my lack of paying the yearly donation. Should be fixed now.

Glad I was able to go Friday. It rained all the way in and all evening. Great fun though. My finger is doing well after the big cut . Looking forward to Spring . Thanks everyone for a fun time. Jim, thanks for being my nurse .
