Sorry for the stupid mistake. It seems I confused polyester and polypropylene and had them mixed up in my mind. I went and checked the source I remember looking at last night and it was polypro. Sorry again for the mix up...

it would still be considered a ridgeline, just not a structural one, the shock cord was added because of patent issues.

I have never used a ridgeline, but the more I think about it the more that I would like to have one. I have tied lines over my head to hang things, but the idea of a structural ridgeline that makes setup a lot easier. What do most of you use as a ridgeline? 2mm/3mm spectra?

I am curently using 15' of nylon 1" webbing on each side of my hammock, if I'm lucky and the trees are close then I do not have much stretch, but if they are far apart then there is a LOT of stretch. I am switching to 1" Poly very soon.

I am thinking of adding a structural ridgeline to my stock Speer hammock. Like Preacha Man, I would also like to know: what is considered the best cordage to use for a structural ridgeline, when considering required strength vs weight?

Yup, after a "not quite right" sleep on the weekend and re-adjusting I think I'll give a ridgeline ago. I'm already using line that is 4mm so I'll use the same line for the ridge. If it means the perfect hang every time then that do me.

I use 1.8mm Sypderline for my ridgelines, and I think some others here do too. I guess I'd go up to 2.8mm if I weren't comfortable with the 1.8mm.
