well if it gets too bad and you are having difficulty, you could find out what to do on one of the Wilderness and Remote First Aid hangs I'm trying to put together. Dutch said he'd help organize something in the mid-atlantic states, so maybe I'll get a chance to see your tarp after all.
For nylon tarps with curved edges, especially those cut on the bias, I'm curious about the differences between a rolled hem and a bound edge.
A bound edge may not stretch enough (leaving the interior fabric sagging and prone to collecting water), but a rolled hem may stretch too much.
Anyone had these or other troubles with either method?
I was planning on just hemming my 8x10 tarp.

I have never gotten a rolled hem presser foot to work for me. I know other people like them. For me it is just a waste of metal. I have rolled twill tape into the hems of the tarps I have made. Provides some stability for the rolled hem but I have found it easier than using edging of some kind. That's a personal preference issue.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I have been so busy with work and the hoosier hang, I have not used it. I am going to be doing some DIY work here real soon, I will get back to you about it. I will be using uncoated 1.1 sil.

I decided to take a chance and ordered a Singer 35931 adjustable hemmer foot from ebay. It apparently adjusts to form hems between 3/16" and 1" and should work with low shank machines. It was only $12 shipped. I hope to get it by the end of the week, but who knows. I'll report back with the results.
