Anyone needing more hanging time?
The 2019 Louisiana Spring Swing has been planned for Feb 22-24 at Indian Creek Recreation Area, Woodworth, LA in the Primitive Camp Area. That's just south of Alexandria on a beautiful reservoir.

Last year's hang had about 25 people and a ton of food and good times!

So, just a heads up for everyone.

As I was lying awake last night at around 3am, it dawned on me that there could be a slight snag in my grand plan. The Airey Lake Recreational Area is managed as a part of the Desoto National Forest. Due to the government shutdown, it *might* be closed. I'm sure we could still get in there, but if the gate is locked, its going to severely limit parking.

I'm going to take a cruise up there in the next couple of days and report back. I'm hoping they just opened the gate and are letting it ride, but who knows...

I tried calling the ranger station several times today and never got an answer. Did you get a chance to go out there yet?

I had something come up, so I cant be there till Saturday. The mountain man breakfast might be out, I'll see about making something for Saturday night.

I did.

Unfortunately, my concerns were correct. The area is closed and gated. So, as of right now, we're in limbo. If the jackholes in Washington can get their act together and quit acting like a bunch of babies, we should be ok. If not, we'll reschedule for another time.

If there's a temporary reopening of the gubment, I'll call the ranger station and make sure before folks drive in.

Supposedly they are reopening but only till the end of February....

Yeah, I heard that too. If that happens, we're good, but I'd hate for folks from out of state to drive in to find a locked gate.

I just spoke with Marilyn at the DeSoto Ranger’s office and they expect to have Airey Lake Rec. Area re-opened in the next 2 days. It’s their 1st day back and they are working to get everything up and running again.
