    Talking Need Some Help

I'm thinking of getting a Blackbird to replace my WB traveler...
i'm 215lbs do you think the single layer 1.7 would be ok ?
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I've got a double for my 235#, but I think the biggest value for my double 1.7. is that the skeeters don't nail my butt through the single 1.7 any more.

    Go for Blackbird 1.1 dl

Weight saving between Blackbird 1.7 sl vs. Blackbird 1.1 dl is not very much only 2 oz. And Blackbird 1.1 dl takes little more weight than Blackbird 1.7 sl.

I would take the 1.1 dl because one can save weight with thin closed cell pad vs. "some other solution" to keep ones back warm.

But if you do not need extra stuff under your back, then there is only the argument about bite resistance vs. weight.

Even if you think you dont need a pad, how do you know? There were many WINTER situations where i was so happy i got the double layer. Using it allows me to boost my no sniv to well below freezing. WIth the small weight penalty you have the ability to greatly modify your setup for less weight (pads are light, and getting lighter).
