I never understood the unattended trail magic. Can of soda - ok - but food items? What the heck.

Totally agree Paul. Leaving food unattended can't be a good idea.

I have to respectfully disagree. Hanging mix drinks in a tree is the most awesome trail magic I have ever heard of. The person who did that must have taken much time and effort for such a task.

The only thing I could think that would be better would be 420.

I’d love some drinks as well but left in a bag in bear country with skittles and oatmeal cookies is irresponsible at best

Yea, trail magic is "typically" left unattended and you do not see any through hikers complaining that a bear "may" get to it before they do.
How is that deer not falling????
