OH NO!
Date change.
OH NO!
Date change.
Yeah... it is...
We try not to do that, but sometimes it is done to us.
We're very sorry to anyone who gets tripped up by this change.
We were glad (and frankly, lucky) that we only changed by a week.
We've been assured that we have Doe Lake locked in for MLK weekend in perpetuity - starting in 2020.
Again...sorry for the inconvenience that this 2019 date shift will inevitably cause some folks.

So many trees, so little time...
I have a question about meals (since I have not experienced the circle of dutch ovens before). For those of us who do not have a dutch oven or have no experience with dutch oven cooking, do we need to bring our own camp food to eat?
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
Everyone please remember to mark your gear!

GAPeach, one of the great things about the circle of dutch ovens is that each dutch oven should have about 12 servings of food to share. So it works out that the few can feed the many. In the case of the HangCon I think that will have to be the many will feed the great many. The really great thing is you get a variety of dishes to try. No one will go hungry I'm sure. If you don't have a dutch oven, bring a pot and make a side dish of green beans, corn, or some special thing. I will have a double burner stove you can use, and there is always charcoal to cook on. One of the campers at a hang I was at did grilled corn on the cob on the BBQ grill at the site. Just plan to make enough to serve about 10 or so people, and you'll be fine. Store bought rolls, brownies and such are also another option if you don't want to cook.
If you don't like my cooking there's always MRE's.***Hotlips
Great tips from the Camping Caterer. Glad you're coming back, Hotlips.
There is a grill behind the pavilion and a few others scattered across the site if anyone wants to bring charcoal and corn on the cob or other delights like hotdogs, hamburgers(with cheese for Dutch), or even Jiffy Pop popcorn(ask Lilricky).
Peach, I think I can probably speak for most of us as well, you're welcome to come into the kitchen and use any of my equipment to cook whatever you bring. Several DO's and skillets, charcoal stands and small grill and prep table.
Oh, and the hike on Friday will be easier to get to this year. It starts less than 100 yards from the front gate with views of the St. John's River.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
I'm never going to live down the popcorn incident, am I?
