    About those donations...

If you would like to make an advance donation - which would be very helpful and very appreciated, please PayPal (as a gift) to [email protected].

Important: Please use the notes section of the PayPal app to put your trail name, and to indicate if your gift is a donation or to purchase raffle tickets. If you're doing both, please indicate how much goes to each.

    And THANK YOU!

    Raffle Tickets...

...will go on sale at HangCon after lunch on Saturday the 26th. See Timberrr for tickets.

As before, cost will be $5 for one ticket or 5 tickets for $20.

Raffle tickets are available in advance. To encourage folks to buy tickets in advance, $20 will get you our profound gratitude, lotsa good karma, and 6 tickets (instead of 5) if you buy them before midnight 12/31/2018. The funds have to be in Gumbo's PayPal account before 1/1/19.

To get advance tickets, PayPal a gift of the appropriate amount to [email protected]. Raffle tickets purchased in advance will be distributed Saturday afternoon. Please include your trail name/HF name as a note with your PayPal submission. We probably don't know your real name or your email address.

Again, the PayPal note must clearly state you name and how much you're allocating to raffle tickets and how much as a donation.

    Bear bagging...

... is going to be a good idea.

With the river so close, there will be racoons, and there's always the possibility of bears.

So everyone will need to either use a bear bag, or strap lock your hard-sided cooler (which the critters will try to gnaw through) to a bench, or keep your food, soap, toothpaste and other delectables in your vehicle.

    Please, no styrofoam.

If anyone has an enclosed cargo trailer we can use to haul stuff to, and store stuff during HangCon, please PM me.

    HangCon 2019

I did notice on the Doe Lake Campground site that they have already given an alert for 2020 dates being closed for a "special event". Thanks for working so hard for us to have such a beautiful location for HangCon at Doe Lake and now finding River Forest for us.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Saw the Special Event in January 2020 and was scratching my head. Good to know that we'll be back, but also really looking forward to Hangcon 2019! Wow, just saw the picture of the new screened pavilion, very nice!

While it's not Doe Lake, there is a lot that I really like about this venue. Boat/Kayak launch and trailhead at the site. Nice screened pavilion, firepit, lots of picnic tables and plenty of trees, flushing toilets and showers.

The trail connects to a loop and is just under 8 miles for the full hike. I thought the hikers might really enjoy that.
