Is my Whoopie letting me down?

The following photos are of a WS that has been outside most of the winter. I used the setup to test/tweak winter gear setups. I posted pics of these slings months ago while we were exploring the effects of freezing and ice buildup on WS's. I moved the hammock and slings inside a couple of weeks ago because I'm just tired of all this snow.

Last night while swapping out hammocks I noticed the bury looked funky to say the least. It almost looks like the strands going in one direction are missing?! Closer inspection reveals no broken or missing strands. Weird

I've left the rig up and I'm going to continue to use it to the edge of my comfort level. I have it set up over a pullout couch so in the worst of all worlds it should only be a rude awakening if things go awry. Who knows? It may last forever.

Anyone else have the same or similar experience?

Mine sorta look similar, maybe not as discolored(if the pic shows the color correct). Mine are basically brand new, so I figured it's just how it gets, since I had heard such rave reviews of them. As far as I can tell it's just a slight loosening of the braid at that point. I'm pretty sure it's fine. If you saw "fuzziness" then I'd be worried.

Just thought I'd ask. None of my other WS's did this. One set does have a 5 O'clock shadow though.

    Thanx

What a great testament to the WS. Leaving it out all winter in the freezing/thawing cycles with sunlight doing its best to destroy it and it is still functioning. I cant think of a harsher real world test.

Yep, mine are doing the same as picture. Good to know it's normal and will still hold.

As to the WS .... I had water run into my weathershield ...... so just to say that the loose end hanging is not enough to divert all rain water in a deluge.!!!!
I now take the loose end and tie it on the line again. And I added a shoelace.
    That is my report.

I had the same result at Linville. An additional drip line fixed it. I think the amsteel is just so dense when under load that the water travels quickly down it like a piece of wire. Much of it runs right by the loose end.
