Any feedback from owners, especially the Winter Tarp?
Personally, I think that a plain ole rectangular DCF tarp would really hit the sweet spot. DCF tarps in general are a wee on the narrow side, so the Hex tarps leave you feeling a little vulnerable to blowing rain, but doors are a bit of a hassle...rectangular (with very shallow cat cuts) would be just the ticket for a tarp like like this.
Don’t get me wrong, a version with doors is great to have in the arsenal too, especially for cold weather. But for summer, I’d rather have a rectangular version. DCF is so stinking light that it makes no sense to me to cut corners (pun intended) with a hex
Hopefully a hex tarp with a 12 foot ridgeline will be in the works also.
I recently posted about how I got blasted about a week ago. I was cocky, posting here how awesome the weather was going to be. 100% rain free, even talk of fire danger due to sunny/low humidity. So I took my door-less tarp. Why not? Then, a big storm rolled in and lasted for a good 45-60 minutes. Everything was soaked from all 4 sides, but primarily the ends. It would stop, then a minute later I saw a white wall coming over the lake for another round...BOOM! After 7 years I'm finally sold on doors regardless of the weather.
This is already available and has been for a while. https://dutchwaregear.com/product/he...ema-composite/
