    A 3 year old thread?

    The GG tarps are diamond shaped...there aren't any 'doors' to close. When hung, there isn't enough material on the ends to create a windbreak. They do offer plenty of coverage for rain, though.

    I think you would have to add a center tie out to hang it rectangularly

    The version of that tarp that comes with poles does have a center tie out that can be used for rectangular hanging.

    The GG 12X12 that Drewboy is talking about will work in the configuration you are looking for. I have one and used it this last weekend in winds that were gusting to 10 mph and it worked great. Unfortunately they are out of stock!!!!!!!
