A friend of mine from work and I decided to get out this past weekend. We decided to check out High Cliff state park, up on the north east edge of lake Winnebago...
He's a ground dweller, but I don't hold that against him. He was instrumental in getting me to rediscover my interest in the outdoors, hiking and camping, over the past couple of years.
Weather for the weekend ranged from cloudy to clear to light snow, with temps generally hovering in the mid 20's at night and the mid 30's during the day.
Being that this was pretty much a car camping trip, I took a fairly decent cross-sampling of my stove and cookset collection along to play with.
The Chateau, complete with weather protection by Speer and under insulation by Stormcrow, provided me with deluxe accommodations for the weekend!
Plenty of off-trail, cross-country hiking and snowshoeing was enjoyed on Saturday. My legs are still sore...
There was some beautiful scenery to look at, including the cliffs which give the park it's name...
We had a gorgeous moon Saturday night to enjoy the cocoa by.
All in all, a really nice weekend. Relaxing and enjoyable.
