Grand Island is nice. My dad and I did it two years ago. Basically walked the whole thing in a day. Not a lot to see as most of the trails are on the interior of the island. There's still a lot of private property on the island as well.
I grew up near Escanaba, so spent all my youth traveling around the UP.
"lone u.p. eer"
Yeah I think its just the two of us lone yoopers on these forums. I checked the map and I dont think there was anyone else.
Lonetracker..you have been all over the UP hammock camping! Have you ever been to Manitou Island off the tip of the Keweenaw? I really want to check it out..mainly since its so far from anything. I need to get out some more. I plan on doing a hammock camping trip to Isle Royale sometime this summer which should be a great trip!

The McCormick Tract is a tough place! Mostly trail less, but awesome none the less! Here is a link..

Any of you guys hike the Trap Hills area?
No never have. Just always went to the Porqupine mountains instead. I always wanted to though. Maybe a group hang could be in store? Or somewhere in northern lower Michigan for all you trolls?Any of you guys hike the Trap Hills area?
THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION...
Last year I did the Pictured Rocks trail and look forward to doing something in Michigan this year. I'm dying to backpack one of the islands... choices choices. The idea of a boat ride, fishing, backpacking.... and maybe a hang is very appealing.
