I bought a Speer 8x10 CatTarp when it was on sale for $89.
so far it's been a pretty decent tarp, good coverage, and the ends can be close up for harsh weather. It doesn't provide as many options as a Winter tarp, but it gets the job done, and it packs to a size about 7" x 4"... IDEAL

MacCats and Warbonnets are my current favorites, and have been for quite a while. But, I'm finicky about what I carry on long hikes and fairly demanding of my tarps. Any old tarp will work for a hammock as long as it has enough length. The diamond flies are generally much less expensive and in many ways, more versatile. I'd start there and find out if it suits your needs. If not, go to a rectangular tarp. If that doesn't work, spend some of that hard earned money on something with a cat cut edge.

If those don't work, there is a fantastic RV dealer I know that I can put you in touch with.

hummm.. as long as the RV got satellite tv and tivo..

thank you everybody for the great info you gave me... now to polish my question with crucial details.. here is what i think so far

    - Its gotta fit well for a Warbonnet BlackBird double layer 1.7

    - I would like the possibility to close the end.. but dont plan to unless im stuck in really bad weather

    - I dont feel like DIY (nor I have the gear to make it) My gf got a really small sewing machine so its not impossible but too much trouble.. finding the right fabric and doing it.. i prefer speed delivering.. and paying for it

    - I already have a 15$ crappy Polyethylene Tarp that probably would do the job just fine (my last tarp was.. non-existant.. was made out of trees and green leaves and anything i could find in the wilderness.. but im sick of building natural shelter and want to save time), i know it could be lighter to buy a non-poly tarp even if the poly is cheaper/heavier

    - I like it big.. big coverage, dont care too much (a little tho) about the extra weight / 10x10 minimum maybe.. 10x12 looks good to me. less weight is always good but im used to carry a truck on my back.

    - Color, nothing too bright.. could be OD, Black, forest color.. i dont really want a claytor diamond camo one but could easily live with that color over a bright yellow/red/etc..

    - I dont want removable door.. i want a big piece tarp with maybe the possibility to close the tip/door.. 4 ancor point on each side i guess.. the door dont have to close entirely..

    - I was close to order yesterday a diamond type but kinda think the rectangle would be better coverage than the smaller diamond side.. rain move direction sometimes.. and for what i want to do with a tarp... rectangle-like (non-diamond) just seem right

Hawk-eye: i need to order a small Coleman solo cook kit and campmor is the only place i have found it.. about the tarp there, what was the one you use exactly.. ?

shug: i know NOTHING.. Zero, Rien, Nada about Silnylon, Spintex, coated nylon.. i see silnylon everywhere and never knew it existed before hammockforums registration

Just Jeff: block the wind (i.e. in winter), or if you really like privacy. But it restricts ventilation and views. Which are most important to you? both.. option to do both.. if the weather is calm.. i'll hang the tarp yes.. but really high and not fix down the sides to see the nature. Kinda like shug was saying in the last video i saw from him.. maybe layziness, i know i can be, but mostly a beautiful view is important for me.. im used to sleep in the wild.. sometime no roof, on a bed a pine tree branchs fallin' asleep watching the stars will a campfire glow around me

Start a thread in the "Want To Buy" forum and you might get lucky.
The SWT is a solid tarp and very light for its size.
