Looks good. Have you tested it outside yet?

I have a couple bags in the closet that have holes in the foot end

Couple suggestions from my days using bags like this.

On the foot end tie a short length of shockcord between the tabs and tie off around rope. This will keep the foot end from sliding down causing cold spots

On the head end use a grip clip or something similar attached to the bottom center. Attach shockcord to the grip clip and hammock suspension. This needs to be adjustable so that you can find the point that eliminates cold spots on the bottom

Also you will need a small quilt or something similar in the chest area to eliminate the air gap where the hammock will hold the bag off your chest.

The colder it gets the less effective this type setup is but in the right temps it can save a lot of weight on your setup.

    Good hangin

Gotta say, "I love this idea." Looking forward to hearing how it turned out. My concerns would be either water running into the bag on a rainy night and poor fit do to the hammock sag once you get in. Anyone else done this... results?

its not real cold here in texas most times of year. so a couple dead air space spots won't be a big problem. ive even slept a few times comfortably without anything under me at all. I dont sleep to much of center either so it fits me well. ive slept in it inside and its comfortable as far as room goes.

    what hangnout said ....
I sewed on some webbing loops and tied up the ends with shock cord. Works much better. I situated the zipper on top for easier entry/exit too.

this works, but kills the diagonal lay for me, so I prefer to use some other method of insulation.
All power to ya if it works for you though!

I was considering doing this same thing myself, but hadn't made the move yet. Since bug netting is unnecessary during most cold weather hiking, this would be no problem to deploy. For me, this makes far more since than using a separate OQ and UQ. I don't think you'd have the problem of “sag” and “pumping” I've noticed with OQ's and UQ's which IMO reduces their efficiency. I think you would retain far more heat and be more efficient with this type of configuration. IMO

    Great job!

Explain the head end more to me please (I assume your head is fully exposed) ... any chance of a photo with someone in it?
