I'm contemplating making the drive up. I'm not sure about it yet, but I could use some more cold weather hanging. I will be at the Palmetto State Hangers Frozen Butt Hang the weekend prior, so two hangs in a row might be a bit much for the family.
You wont find as much down dead wood as you would further out, away from the camp ground but there is always some around.
They just wouldn't want any standing dead wood taken down because it is valuable to wildlife, especially in winter.
I know at least a time or two, someone (named Home Run) found three dead limbs that were strong enough to make a big tripod and hang a big ol pot of beans and meat from it.
We have been missing Home Run for a while now, since he has been working in Florida.
When it comes to eating, everyone brings there own except for the group meal Sat eve but don't be surprised to find someone with extra food to share at other times.
That's always a nice surprise.

On the spread sheet I saw that blrdgmtn was asking about the "Log House" column.
It has actually changed hands and is now a restaurant known as the Corner Market and Café.

Those coming from south or east of the park will probably pass it on the way in.
Traditionally there are some from the group that go there for a nice, sit down breakfast/ lunch, coffee, etc, on Sunday, late morning.
It is about a 15 minute drive from the group camp.
I called... they are good to go.
Corner of Hwys 58 and 16.

My boys can't come with me to Grayson at the end of the month due to school. Just too far to drive 9 hours after school on Friday but we did get out for our annual father/sons frozen butt hang last night.
It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!

Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
