I'm now in the DIY club, I got a thread injector!

I bought a thread injector machine (finally) and now I'm in the DIY club. So far I've got a few projects done. ....... and I just ran out of my first roll of thread! dang it! and my walmart no longer has a fabric dept. grrrrrrrr ....... anyway, after much thread hitting the floor in little pieces I am starting to get the hang of this. I should have done this oh so long ago!
    pics coming soon!

    sb to uq conversion:
I have a summer weight "frogsac" center zip sleeping bag that I installed some loops on at the head and foot end and have elastic cord going up from there to the hammock/suspension junction. I also have another going from the left side to the right side over the blackbird ridge line to hold up the sides. these are positioned about a 12" or so from the head and foot ends. I got biners to make quick connections.

    tarp tie out line pockets/pouches:
I got these using mesh material in the corners where the tie out points are.

    snake skins for tarp:
wow, this is really nice! with the tie out lines in their pouches and sliding the skins over the tarp it makes deployment and striking the tarp pretty darn easy.

I got a wallyworld standard off the shelf Singer "Simple" machine for 80 bucks. It had everything to get me going except thread. It has reverse on an easy enough to get to lever and has a foot pedal (which was not shown or described on the box).

this is my first attempt at all of this and I don't know if it's me, the machine, the settings, or the types of material but it tends to jam up some and make a knotted up mess.

I heard of something called a drop in bobbin? would that be something worth getting? because this machine doesn't have one.

Ummm if that is the extent of the thread on the floor you really need to check out the floor of one of the more active DIYers. You are doing fine but there have been times when my rug is almost covered solid with thread detritus. Keep working. You'll get it.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

that was only one of my knotted messes that I cut out. yeah, in a short time most of the first roll of thread ended up on the ground. I'm now in the process in mending a drawstring at the foot of my frogsac and it's not going all that badly. It'll be nice to have that working again!

I got the same model and am very happy with it,,, at first I was a little shy when buying supples, kinda, like back in the day when I was asked to get those items from the store that umm well you know, those things the wife would ask ya to pick up for her now and then. Anyway...

Congradulations,,,,, pretty soon, you will be able to say SEWING MACHINE with Honor.

    Congratulations on your new machine!

Now as far as your questions go, I'm going to give you a piece of advice here.

Don't scoff or call me a sissy. I know that after buying a sewing machine your masculinity is very fragile right now, and this is a strange and, well, unmanly concept, but here goes:

Read the manual. Then read it AGAIN. When having problems, refer back to the manual first.

Don't look at me like that. This process actually works!
