Just received my 2 blackbirds today, yay!!

Is there a good technique to pack it back in the bag.. or its just a good ol fashion shove-it-inside technique that we must use ..

tuck one tie out inside the hammock, leave the other one loose, then start from one end of the bishop sack and bring in the hammock. leave the suspension hanging out both ends and wrap them around the stuff sack so you dont get any crap(dirt, sap) on the hammock body. i also took some white thread and sewed put a couple stiches and back stiches in the head end webbing loop to know which end is which with the hammock in the bag. it seems to work great.

I made mine into a true blackbishop bag. I removed one of the cord locks and tied it so there is just a 1" openning.

The shove-it technique is working.. but this blackbird is my new baby and would like to keep it for a long time, feels bad to shove-it in the bag.. but it work.. The only thing i do so far is keeping 1 side tied and untie the other side and start to slowly get it back in the bag without the hammock touching the floor.. I dont have a snakeskin, nor know where to get one.. maybe i could DIY sew one.. but i'll check our forum and see how much user prefer the bag vs the skin

any input is welcome, thank you very much.. i'll off for a winter hike in 4 hr and will go hang this "oiseau noir" for the first time.

Have had tarp in snakeskins and hammock in another set ... thinking about switching to a bishop's bag for the hammock in the future though ... and keeping the tarp in snakeskins. Sometimes there's a need to deploy a tarp without a hammock ... at least that's my line of thought.

i feed about 2 inches of webbing through one of the ends before i cord lock it closed, then stuff it, leaving about 2 inches of webbing on the other side. it works

According to tenting conventional wisdom, it's better to stuff than to fold. Folding creates creates that can cause weak spots, while stuffing stresses a different place every time. I've never seen any real evidence to support that, but I've heard it a lot.

I have a blackbishop bag that I stuff the hammock, underquilt, top quilt, and JRB hood if I'm using it...all goes into the same bag, ready to deploy. The tarp goes in my pack's outer mesh pocket so I can set up the tarp w/o opening my pack.
