    Beaner's and tree straps

Hey guys, first post! I have a Clark JH <tropical> and my setup entails, ENO tree straps, and two carabeaners tied to the stock ropes. This system has worked fine for me, but now looking at the threads around here, there seems to be some sophisticated systems out there. Now the big question! Which in your opinion do you think is the lightest, fastest, and easiest option? Thanks to all who reply!

The current fashion is Amsteel whoopie sling connected via marlin spike to tree huggers with dutch clip.

You might want to check out Grizz's (AKA Professorhammock) video. Here is the link to A Brief Primer on Hammock Suspension, part I : webbing

I'd also recommend watching the whole series.

I've got amsteel hammock ropes, mule tape for straps and I just use the Clark drip rings as my tie point.

my friend has made amsteel whoopie slings and I just checked them out..... oh man those things are fantastic and oh soooo easy to adjust!!!

Lightest, fastest and easiest would probably have to be the Amsteel whoopie slings. I use something different though, since weight is not my top concern.

I use Strapworks straps, dutch clips and SMC decender rings as part of a "ring buckle"-type set-up for my NX-250. It might not be the lightest option, but it's fast and easy.(two out of the three options you asked about)

It's a very strong set-up too, so I don't have to worry about hitting the ground unexpectedly in the middle of the night. I couldn't tell you exactly what the load rating is with my set-up, but it's a lot more/higher than I'll probably ever come close to.

Definitely change those stock ropes to whoopie slings. Best change I ever made. I currently use the toggle system with a strong carabeaner. Thinking of just using a stick I find on the trail for that though.

I read Eno straps stretch out, alot. My husband bailed out on the eno staps for his eno set up first thing and us his WB tree straps.

As soon as the dutch clip order is in, I'm getting a set for each of our setups. Another amazing invention, found here on the forums.

Good luck. I've found that this forum is a great place for help.

If light is a concern, you don't really need the Dutch Clip. Pulling a bight through the end loop is just as handy.

I must admit I have been tempted to purchase 2 Dutch Clips just because .....

Well I can vouch for the whoopie slings. I have put them on both my hammocks, an ENO double and a Hammock Bliss with noseeum net. I got rid of a huge wad of rope from the Bliss and that tiny worthless rope that came on the ENO. I want to try all the different ways I can. I really like the whoopie and ring buckle systems for the simplicity and they are light. You should definately check out strapworks for some SimpleStraps.

Warbonnetguy. pull his website up, and just purchase the tree straps.

He's got some other options too for adjustments to your hang. He has this buckle set up and the 2 triangle rings. He has some videos to watch to get the idea.

The whoopie slings are lighter and hold extremely well. So it is up to you. I have the whoopie set up on my clark na, and the WB buckle system on my blackbird. Still deciding on whether or not I want to convert the BB to the whoppie/toggle system. I just like having a variety. My husband is chomping at the bit for me to decide, because he wants my extra set of whoopie slings! ha!
