Selling gear I don't use or rarely use to fund buying new gear. So I thought I was going to purchase a WB 3 season Yeti, but the sale price of Winter Yeti (WY) was lower. So I purchased the WY.
Test hang inside the basement. Temp ~54*F. Top quilt BMW UL90. The UL90 on cold hard ground with a thin ground pad (?3/8" ccf) gives me bottom end comfort temp down into the mid-60*F. In the WBBB without any foot pad wearing cotton t-shirt, cotton bottom, SmartWool light wool socks for sleep clothing was toasty warm.
Test hang to check out how warm I could take the WY up to. Now I'm wondering how cold the WY/UL90 combo can go? Just my feelings, but concerning overall comfort I think overkill on the bottomside insulation and too light topside is the better option vs. under insulated bottom and over insulated top.
Any real world experiences backing up this "feeling"?
