    Summer Quilts

Im set on my winter rig.

I am curious to see what top quilts are popular for 50-70* weather?

I love the weight saving and compressibility of down.

In the past I have used fleece blankets but the bulk and weight I dont like.

I use the 3 season quilts all year, no change, but usually am going where the weather can turn on you and leave you in freezing temps in July. You don't always get weather as advertised.

I got the JRB Stealth at 15 oz, and it's perfect for those temps. Plus it has a head hole to wear as a poncho for unexpectedly cold mornings, or even nighttime visits to the pee-tree if you're careful.

As I just posted in another thread, though, I'm considering taking the NS even on summer trips now that I'm in Colorado...for the same reason Lori just mentioned. Weather out here has more personalities than hammocking has newbies.

    Summer quilt

I use a Bozeman Mountain Works (BMW) UL90. The regular length in a stuff sack ends up down to ~1.5L weighs ~12oz. No problem with temps down into the 60*F with proper bottom side insulation. The Pertex (?Endurance) outer shell beads up water well. Highly water resistant, not waterproof, but fog proof. Plus synthetic insulation. Down would be nice for weight/volume: warmth ratio, but this uq works fine for me. No upgraditis.

I did a mismatch test hang. New Winter Yeti uq. Temps only low 50*F. No wind (basement hang). No insulating clothing. Toasty warm using the UL90.

I believe I am going to give the poncho liner a try this summer.

I have used mine below me in a hammock, and didn't get any CBS until around 40 degrees. for summer temps, I should work just fine as a top quilt.
